“We have been a part of the Strong Roots community for four years. When the program started, it was a dream come true. I soon realized the program was just as nurturing and healing to me as it was my children. Currently, all three of my children actively participate in this gently guided, nature-based, rhythm -focused, story rich, nurturing and experiential opportunity. I would highly recommend Strong Roots to any family who believes time spent in nature seasonally is an important part of personal growth.”

“Every week in Strong Roots we explore something different. I like that I get to see old friends and make new friends. I enjoy the free time to observe and explore before class and I think it is cool that we get to figure out where we are hiking through symbols.”

—Madilyn Dexter, Age 10

“I like Strong Roots because we get to explore the forest and eat snacks together when we are hungry. And I really like story time.”

—Emilia Dexter, Age 4

“Through Strong Roots, Kristin has created a beautiful, supportive community that allows my child to learn naturally, at her own pace and predominantly outside. I feel fortunate that I can put her in a class where she is given space to explore and test her limits, while also being taught to observe and listen to the natural rhythms each season brings. My child's relationship with nature, her peers and herself grows deeper with each class.”

—Nicole Feenstra

“My children look forward to every day of “school” at Strong Roots where they are thriving while learning outdoors, forging close friendships and growing skills for working together in community. Kristin and Georgia are gifted and caring teachers and facilitators.”

—Jennifer Beaumont

“My daughter has been going to Kristin's class for over 3 years now & we could not be happier. Kristin is a wonderful teacher & pays attention to every detail. The kids have learned so many new songs and we have all been shown a meaningful way to approach childhood through her teachings. The kids get to be kids and experience nature to it's fullest extent, rain or shine and they love it either way! Refreshing, creative, and purposeful—this has been an experience that will last a lifetime.”

“I feel so fortunate that we found Strong Roots three years ago for parent child classes with Kristin. The community that first class brought to our lives was amazing and has continued to fill our family for years now. The traditions and rhythms that Strong Roots has established for my girls flows into our family life. I love watching my girls form bonds with the other children in their communities as well as the land they have grown to love and know. The confidence they have gotten from learning to be a part of a varied group, forge off the land, follow and create maps and structures, make fires and find their own quiet sit spots to observe among many other things has been tremendous. I cherish this wonderful Strong Roots Community for my children as well as myself and our family as a whole.”

“It (Forest School) is good. I discover a bunch of cool stuff and make forts with sticks. I love playing with my friends. Leaves fall and we make leaf piles in autumn and in spring we watch flowers grow. In winter we play in the snow and make snow angels. I love forest school.”
